Where have you been all my life?
You are exactly what I needed and I didn't even know it. Every since menstruation resumed (blah) after baby number 3 my periods have been truly horrible along with my mood swings. Friends have tried to set us up for a couple months but I was busy and I kept pushing the thought of you aside. I'm 40 years old and something new in my life was a little overwhelming. I was used to tampons, yeah, they were uncomfortable but they were what I knew, and I wont even get into pads. I didn't know how wonderful you are.
When I finally decided to open myself up to a new way to deal with that uncomfortable and annoying time of the month I was a bit overwhelmed. My friend Brandi used a Diva Cup and she loves it, others use the Luna, the Moon Cup or the Keeper. But which one was the best for me, for my vagina? I went to the store and that was awful, there was only one cup there and it was pink! I'm not a pink kinda girl, you know that. Next I tried looking online. There is no Match.com for menstrual cups unfortunately, so the next best thing is Amazon. I typed menstrual cup in the search and there were so many! But there you were, at the top of the list, like you knew we would be perfect together. I was initially drawn to your name as it is the same as a 90's sitcom character that I love, Blossom. Although you were not wearing a flower hat, you had 4.5 stars and more than 4,500 reviews! Normally I'm not sure I would be into something that has been inside of 4,500 vaginas but in this case I figured 4,500 vaginas can't be wrong! Once I clicked on you I found you came in 12 colors, I didn't have to get pink! I found you, you came in clear silicone and size large, I was hesitant, excited and couldn't wait to have you.
It took days, (literally 2 day shipping) but here you were and only a bit late to this month's "party". I instantly snapped a pic of you and I to send to Brandi to show we finally connected. When I opened your box you were there, along with a little surprise gift for me, a little draw-string bag to carry you around in. I was a little nervous as I read the instructions but I read them a couple times to make sure I knew you. I wanted us to work. I washed and sanitized you and practiced the folds and I was ready to give you a go. Once you were in it was like magic, I didn't feel a thing. I was hopeful you were in there ok and the next time I went to the bathroom not a drop had escaped unlike those damn tampons who had betrayed me time and time again. You are so different from them, you fit me perfectly. The next kinda scary thought was, would you get stuck up there? I really didn't want to have to call my husband into the bathroom to have him dig around in my vagina for my lost menstrual cup. So I sat myself down and pulled, I was kinda surprised how easily you came out. Our first day together was so great, I think we will be together for a long time.
The rest of my period this month was also great, no drippage into my unders. I felt more confident to wear some pants that I never would normally wear during Aunt Flow's visit. I am so sorry I didn't try menstrual cups sooner and am so happy I found you, Blossom. Your instructions say with good care you should last 5-10 years, hopefully I'll be in menopause when you retire and I will never have to use another. You are my one and only, menstrual cup that is. Happy Valentine's Day!
